The Nexperia case: how are we at A+B Electronic dealing with it?

The politically motivated supply disruption at Nexperia poses new challenges for many electronics projects. At A+B Electronic, we took comprehensive measures early on to ensure that we could continue to supply our customers. In this article, we explain how we assess the situation, what steps we have already taken, and how we are working with our customers to minimize risks.

As a long-standing EMS partner with a high level of vertical integration, we at A+B Electronic have successfully overcome a wide variety of challenges in recent years. Nevertheless, the current situation surrounding Nexperia is exceptional, as it is politically motivated and could affect a large number of electronic assemblies. Despite these special circumstances, we remain committed to providing our customers with reliable and predictable supply. The experience we have gained from past crises, especially during the pandemic, strengthens us in our actions today.

Our immediate measures after learning of the Nexperia disruption

After initial indications of possible delivery restrictions at Nexperia became known in early October, we immediately took comprehensive measures. The goal was to secure ongoing projects and minimize potential risks at an early stage.

Comprehensive inventory and demand analysis
We conducted a detailed analysis of all Nexperia inventories and current demand based on ongoing orders and the framework agreements known at that time. All framework agreements placed up to October 10, 2025, are fully secured. For the majority of the relevant components, our material supply even extends until October 2026. We currently see no immediate need for action. We expect the political intervention to be lifted in early 2026. However, should deviations occur for individual assemblies, we will inform the affected customers personally and proactively.

Preventive switch to alternative manufacturers
To protect our Nexperia stocks, we are switching to technically equivalent alternative manufacturers for all components that are not tied to a specific manufacturer. This switch is being made as a precautionary measure and ensures that we remain as independent as possible from further market developments.

Identification of technical alternatives
At the same time, we are checking all Nexperia components in our component master for possible technical alternatives and alternative procurement channels. Customers can obtain this information on request. For a concrete assessment, we need the exact MPN of the component used. As is customary in the industry, the technical evaluation and decision on approval is made by the person responsible for product design.

Intensified supplier communication
We are in close contact with all relevant suppliers whose product ranges could be affected by the situation. If the news situation changes, we will immediately adjust our measures and inform our customers accordingly.

Recommendations for product design managers

To further increase supply security, we recommend carefully checking your own parts lists for the use of Nexperia components. You should then assess whether the alternatives we suggest are technically suitable. Once the review has been completed, approved alternatives should be stored in the parts lists and sent to us. These steps will help both sides to respond flexibly and quickly.

Our assessment of the overall situation

Although bottlenecks and allocations are now part of everyday business in the electronics industry, we consider the current disruption surrounding Nexperia to be less critical. The main reason for this is that it is a politically motivated measure, meaning that production capacities remain fundamentally intact. Once the delivery stop is lifted, a quick return to regular supply is possible, as long as there are no further political restrictions such as factory closures. In addition, many Nexperia components can be replaced by technically compatible alternatives. For individual exclusive components, there are also still options available through specialized brokers.

At A+B Electronic, we are responding to the situation surrounding Nexperia with foresight, experience, and consistent risk management. Through our early analysis, the identification of technical alternatives, close coordination with suppliers, and active communication with our customers, our delivery capability remains assured. Since experience has shown that conditions in the electronics industry can change at short notice, we believe it makes sense to closely monitor developments and plan ahead.

We are always available to provide advice, assist in the selection of suitable components, and ensure that ongoing and planned projects can be continued reliably and stably.
